Vision
ENERlite’s vision is to help build comfortable environments that benefit owners and occupants with minimal impact on nature.
Services
ENERlite Consulting provides building performance analysis and daylighting simulation from the early stages of architectural design until the end of design development.
Why ENERlite?
Focusing on human comfort as well as energy conservation
At ENERlite, we test the thermal comfort and visual comfort of occupants. We prioritize the comfort of humans and energy efficiency. Daylight Glare Probability (DGP) is assessed for visual comfort; predicted mean vote (PMV) and predicted percentage of dissatisfied (PPD) are assessed for thermal comfort in various spaces of the building.
Integrating daylighting into energy
In most projects, daylighting analysis is performed separately from energy simulation. As a result, the impact that daylighting has on the energy usage of a building is neglected. At ENERlite, energy and daylighting simulations are performed simultaneously and their interaction is studied and analyzed. This provides an enhanced level of service and saves time in regards to generating model inputs.
Utilizing various analysis tools
We use multiple software programs, adjusted based on the project type and phase. At the early stages of design, full analysis of the climate, microclimate, and massing studies take place with Ladybug and Honeybee tools for Grasshopper. The 3D geometry is created in Revit or Rhino. Energy models are created in IES, DesignBuilder, or CBECC compliance software.
Blending architecture into science
ENERlite combines a deep understanding of building science with the aesthetic and architectural features of building design. Proposed efficiency strategies are inherited in design and adjusted based on each project.
Sharing model data among various platforms
The building geometry and model input data are generated in a way that it could be shared among various platforms, and used by programs that interact with each other. This saves significant time for energy and the daylight modeling process.
Creating graphs that can talk
Sharing analysis results with our clients is a key factor at ENERlite. We create digestible graphs that make complex simulation data easy to understand. Rather than just figures and numbers, we work with images and different types of charts to interact in a meaningful way with our clients.
